Chapter 2: Career Aptitude Tests – Excerpt from the TARAM Manual
TaRAM Good Citizen Manual
Section 8 [Excerpted]: Why We All Love Career Aptitude Tests
Every Citizen Optimized
In the early Tech Age, TaRAM Education Centers were given the responsibility to design and administer Career Aptitude Tests (CATs) to citizens from birth through the age of maturity: age 17 for females, and age 20 for males.
Nearly forty years later, we are proud to have made such progress in identifying unique skills and talents in every citizen. We joyfully embrace our own contributions to TaRAM, glorifying in our Unity and strength. There is no higher service than being what TaRAM most needs from us: our best efforts, and our unhesitating, unswerving devotion
How to Prepare for Your Own CATs
There is no need for you to think about or prepare for your CATs — in fact, there is no way to prepare for them at all. These tests are designed to reveal to TaRAM your highest and best use, and they are administered in many ways. You may be asked to:
- Perform feats of strength
- Perform feats of endurance
- Perform feats of bravery
- Write
- Sing
- Speak
- Fight
- Run
There may be any number of other tasks you are required to perform. Your CATs will be unique to YOU!
Many citizens worry that they need to do “well” on their CATs, as if they are spelling quizzes or math tests. This is not necessary.
In fact, it is best if you do your best to ignore CATs and simply take them when you are assigned. You will not be able to discern what is being tested, so there is no point in trying to do well or game the system — it cannot be gamed.
Some worry that they will be nervous if they are tested by strangers or bureaucrats. However, this is also an unnecessary anxiety, because you may never be aware that you are being tested at all.
Your CATs may be administered at any time of day or night; at school, at home, or while playing. Some are even given while you sleep.
Your CATs will be administered by many people, including teachers, parents, neighbors, friends, and TaRAM bureaucrats.
You may have some CATs that your friends do not, and vice versa.
These sophisticated and subtle tests are the pride of TaRAM, and they are not something for you to understand or think about.
Simply go about your life and do as you are told, and TaRAM will decide how best to use you and your life!
Your Genetics, Your Skills — Your TaRAM!
Think of how happy you will be when you use your death-tech on your final day, knowing that your whole life has been happy, gratifying, and meaningful.
By participating in your CATs, you will help TaRAM to help you identify your own role in creating Unity. The gratitude you will feel for having helped your associated citizens will be unending, and will also help to ease your transition to The Dark.
Whether you will best serve your fellow citizens in an assigned Career or as a manual laborer; whether you will best serve as one of a Breeding Pair or simply donate your genetics to TaRAM’s library; whether you are scheduled for a Natural Lifespan or an Early Darkness; you will rest in the knowledge that you are a TaRAM citizen, envy of all.
