Well, good morning, love! I just opened a Reading for you, my newsletter subscribers and here’s what I heard in answer to the following:

What do my readers most need to hear this weekend? What is the most important message to send to my beloved readers?

The answer was: “Love Is Everywhere.”

What follows is your weekly reading, dear one.

Q: What do we need to know about “Love Is Everywhere?”

A: Oh, dear ones! Another beautiful message! This month seems to just be overflowing with messages of love and adoration for us. It’s like The Great One Mind of All just wants us to lavish ourselves with all the good feels.

So, let’s see what the phrase “Love is Everywhere” brings us today.

Ah, so I see: it’s not all that pretty, actually. Love Is Everywhere is not about losing your mind as you roll around in pink fluffy clouds of divine love. It’s not like that vision from last week of champagne pouring from the heavens.

It’s more practical, earthy, grounded. This week’s message — this week’s INSTRUCTION — is to look EVERYWHERE and FIND LOVE.

This is not always that easy!

Let’s start with the ground under our feet. Here in Hawaii we have these majorly huge insects, like real tropical beasties that crawl and sting and zap. Don’t do a search for “centipede in Hawaii.” Don’t think about scorpions and the many kinds of roaches who call our islands home. Icky!

Except, oh, no. Love Is Everywhere. So somewhere in those over-sized animals, we can find love. Sigh. I can’t really imagine this, but I suppose they’re going to point out to me … despite my resistance … ah. There it is.

These animals serve many purposes, mainly in soil maintenance and extermination. (WHAT?!) They burrow and eat and shit and process everything, including other insects and small animals (!) helping to break down the dead and dying and rapidly re-invigorate the soil. They clean, in a way. Yup. We think of them as dirty, but in reality, they are the janitors of Planet Earth.

Meanwhile, if you DO search for them I can see in my mind that photos of these animals show just how beautiful they are. They are iridescent and multi-colored, and they have interesting, intricate parts that move and lock into each other like the gears in complex alien machines.

They are ancient. They have been here longer than we have, and they will be here longer than we will be. They are custodians of our home, and seriously, what could be more loving than that? The person who is willing to clean up the waste of others is very often a humble, loving person.

So, OK, I get it. Love Is Everywhere. Even in the shivery centipede.

So this weekend, open your heart as you go about your world. It’s easy to tap into Love Is Everywhere when you live in a beautiful place, or when you are hosting a holiday party for those you love. It’s harder to find evidence that Love Is Everywhere when you are feeling depressed, or lonely, or when you are in mourning. It’s hard to find evidence that Love Is Everywhere when you have no food, no home, no family.

And yet, it’s still possible. Somewhere within your field of vision, right now, you can find evidence of Love. It’s in the perfect curve of your phone in your hand, which represents hundreds of hours of work by engineers and designers and laborers to get it absolutely right. It’s in the smooth finish of the sheet of paper, the perfect flake of the pastry, the way the sunshine breaks through the impeccably clean window at the bakery as you get your morning coffee.

It’s the way the lines on the street lay down like yellow and white lovers, dashed and zagged and solid in unerring, easy-to-follow lanes. It’s the timing of the streetlights, the smile on your postal carrier’s face, the wave of the neighbor as he shovels his driveway.

It’s the way that you feel when you bite into your favorite food, or pet your cat. It’s the beating of your heart, the beating of my heart, the way we all heartbeat our way through our days, we humans and cats and centipedes.

Love Is Everywhere, indeed, and this weekend is a time to find your evidence, to catalog it, to see the beautiful ways that we are graced.

Play some music, listen to a concert, decorate your tree, go to the party, and allow yourself to love yourself, and others. Because when we find our evidence that Love Is Everywhere, we help the world.

We repair what is broken, mend what has been torn. There are so many people, situations, places that seem lost and darkish right now. There are so many difficulties being born by the people of this planet — and the animals and the waters and the air and the soil — and when we choose to find the Love That Is in our own lives, we are better prepared, more inspired, clearer-minded, better able to make Good Decisions and Take Right Action.

Love Is Everywhere, including in our own thoughts, our words, our deeds.

So go, find the love within and without, and share it, and if you are so blessed feeling that you get ecstatic and start rolling around in those fluffy pink clouds? Give to others. Let your love catalog burst open, share it with those who need it.

A friend has her children “play Santa” when they discover the truth behind our beloved fairy tale. By giving generously and anonymously to someone who “needs a Santa,” they experience the Real Spirit of this season of light. They experience themselves as careful observers of the world, careful noters of who can use more Love in their life. And by giving a gift anonymously to that person, they participate in an ancient practice of not just Knowing Love Is Everywhere but Being the Love that Is Everywhere. It’s their favorite time of year because THEY get to be Santa.

So be Santa this weekend. Be the Love that Is Everywhere. Because Love Is Everywhere, and Love Is You.
